Tips For A Healthy Work-Life Balance
Finding work-life balance is an already tricky task and proves to be even more difficult to find now that many of us are working from home. As we fight through this pandemic together, we thought we’d share a few of our tips and tricks that have helped our team feel satisfied and positive during these times.
Workstation Creation
Decide on where you’d like to set-up your designated workspace. Choosing a particular place for your workspace will help make you feel like it’s a typical workday and gives the sensation of a work environment. This will also help you from a mental standpoint by assisting in the separation of work and home, even when both of these occur under the same roof. Try to avoid sitting on a couch or in bed while doing work so that you can stray away from combining areas of relaxation and work.
Set a Schedule
It is very easy to lose track of time while working from home since you are not physically leaving an office or interacting with co-workers who are on the same schedule. Setting up a timeframe for work is critical in ensuring that your time is spent efficiently and effectively. As a parent, setting a work schedule will also allow for the opportunity to show your kids when you may or may not be available for playtime or other activities.
Open Communication is Key
We are lucky this day and age to have the amazing platforms and technology that allow us to connect so easily and see our team members on a whenever/wherever basis. Having clear and open communication is essential to keeping the team connected and on the same page, especially during extended times out of the office. At Buzz, our team motto is, “When in doubt, talk it out,” meaning that if we are confused or have any questions or concerns, speak up and call the team.
Put Work Away at the End of the Day
It is important to ‘leave’ your workday as this will help you mentally ‘clock-out’ at the end of each day. This will also serve as a great way to enjoy time with family or loved ones while we continue to social distance with the rest of society. Although these times may be tough, the silver lining comes in who we get to spend this special time with.
